This recent days I was not yet finished with the jungle collection – which ended up bigger than planned at first – at some point i could not see the end of it but now its done, and I like the whole collection… it is diverse and cohesive enough. Anyway, my point here, is that I managed to save moments for exploring patterns, sketching (half procreate/ half patterndraw app) I made my own templates (sketch repeat that I could use later when I will have decided about a new palette and elements). I like to separate the stylization phase / illustration work from the lay-out exploration. It kind of takes me to results I would not get if I was drawing and building the repeat at the same time. A kind of self surprise.
I want to get back to classic flowery pattern and “chinoiseries” full of birds, next.

The motif is editable. Each color is on a different layer so that any color modification can be made independently. It makes the design process much longer, but it is worth it 🙂
