As wallpaper, this colorway transforms a room into an atmospheric, pattern-saturated envelope
On fabric, it’s especially strong for upholstery, drapery, cushions, quilts, and bold home décor accents where dense patterning brings instant structure and energy.
I didn’t think much about it when designing this pattern, but now I can see a mix of Japanese and African influences.
In its Japanese-inspired elements, the navy-centered rosettes recall stylized “”kiku (chrysanthemums), iconic flowers revered for their autumn blooms and historically cultivated with great care and secrecy.
In its African-inspired elements it is a wax-print aesthetics.
As a whole and from a distance, it becomes an atmospheric, ornamental texture, a rhythmic, maximalist field of “Iris Medallions, a symbolic fusion of radiant sunbursts and watchful eyes. This repeat uses a rich palette of indigo and lavender to create a modern, talismanic surface design.
