Sometime I like the sketchbook page rough as it is. Other times, I like it with just a tiny touch of Photophop or Illustator. It might become a more accomplished image … or not.

Parfois j’aime les pages de mes “sketchbook” brutes. D’autres fois, comme ici, j’aime y ajouter une petite touche de Photoshop ou Illustrator. ça donne un dessin un peu plus aboutis … ou pas.

PREPARATION FOR THE DOODLE TRIANGLE WORKSHOP
I like to show my sketchbook to the children from the workshop as well as a ring binder where I collect all kinds of inspirational images I found on the net, mainly on Pinterest.
I found it paramount to practice on my own prior to meeting with the kids, so that I can foresee the troubles kids might experience during the workshop.
It’s also great fun!

Recently, I really fell in love with the work of two amazing artists: Olaf Hajek and Luisa Rivera.
The esthetical emotion I felt when facing their Work met my new desire to include more natural elements in my drawing, precisely more tropical nature (for some unknown reasons).
The connection between the botanical elements and the body within this two artist’s artwork deeply moved to me.
As, I started to practice, and filled my sketchbook with those winding and imperial stems, inspired by the charisma of orchids, enjoying the dynamic shapes of roots and flower bulbs…
I am still standing at the doodle stage – hope to reach the mix media process soon – get a hand from “photoshop” and “illustrator” 😉
I also felt that, connected with people, those natural elements would be a magnificent way to express the emotions of the characters I would draw and particularly things that happen to the body such as happy feelings as well as illness which can overtake it in various proportions. I will post about it soon.

J’ai récemment découvert deux artistes magnifiques: Olaf Hajek and Luisa Rivera.
L’émotion esthétique que j ai ressenti face à leur travail a rejoint mon envie d’inclure d’avantages d’éléments botaniques dans mes dessins, des éléments tropicaux plus précisément.
Dans le travail de ces deux artistes, la connection entre les éléments naturels et le corps m’a beaucoup ému. J’ai ainsi commencé à remplir mes carnets avec ces sinueuses et impériales tiges, inspirée par le charisme des orchidées, les racines volantes et les bulbes floraux !
J’en suis, pour l’heure, au stade du gribouillage libre – papier/crayons – j’espère passer à l étape suivante bientôt, un peu de “Photoshop” par ci, un peu “Illustrateur” par là…
J’ai aussi beaucoup aimé, chez ces deux artistes, l’association “nature tropicale” et “corps”; une manière puissante d’exprimer les emotions des personnage et plus particulièrement toutes ces choses qui se passent dans le corps, ces emotions heureuses mais aussi ces maladies qui peuvent éventuellement l’envahir dans des proportions diverses. Je posterai à ce sujet bientôt.

This “doodle book” Workshop is about Learning with the children how to make, step by step, a doodle-book – create, with them, a practical and esthetic base for further creations (cards, posters, books…) or not – most fo the time not – a doodle may remain a doodle, beautiful as it is!
Lisa Congdon doodling manifesto, that you can find on her web site inspired and helped me to organise the workshop: I relied on it as a guideline (I selected and summarised a few points that sound paramount and add my own points as well) to outline the workshop.
I love Lisa Congdon‘s work because I can feel the complexity, the work and experience behind the most simple lines she draws. I love her sens of color and the way she elegantly fills the surface she works on. I have been advertising her work to everyone who showed a little interest to the doodle activity!!! Her graphic universe gives such a good insight of what the doodle world could contain.

L’Atelier consiste à apprendre à réaliser un cahier de “croquis”, de recherches d’idées et de lignes, à créer avec les enfants une base pratique et esthétique pour des réalisations futures (livres, “flyers”, posters, cartes…) ou le plus souvent, pour le “doodle” lui même, tel qu’il est, suffisant à l’inspiration qu’il renferme!
Le Manifeste du Doodle de Lisa Congdon m’a guidé dans ma préparation de l’atelier. J’en ai fait une traduction globale et très simplifiée pour le rendre accessible aux enfants et en faire une présentation orale, rapide en début d’atelier.
La complexité et l’experience se pressentent derrière les lignes les plus épurées du travail de Lisa Congdon. Son sens le la couleur et sa manière de couvrir les surfaces sur lesquelles elle travaille sont si plaisants à observer. Je vante son travail auprès de chaque personne qui s’intéresse quelque peu aux “Doodles” car il donne un très bel exemple de ce que l’univers du doodle promet.

The theme of the year at “L’Ecole Des Buis” school is JAPAN.
I have to say, it is a great source of inspiration for me! I conduct collage and drawing workshops. After the workshop end, I can not stop exploring that universe further on, in my notebook. My favorites ones are the KOÏ and DRAGONS as well as the wonderful minimalistic design of the everyday objects . There is plenty of them in my ceramic mic mic board on Pinterest.

Le thème annuel de “l’Ecole Des Buis” est le Japon.
Ce fut une merveilleuse source d’inspiration pour moi! J’ai régulièrement animé des ateliers de collage et de dessin. Après chaque atelier, je ne pouvais m’empêcher de continuer de jouer avec les formes des carpes KOï et des dragons serpents ainsi que le design minimaliste des objets usuels dont la culture japonaise est riche – Allez faire un tour sur Pinterest dans mon tableau “japanese tonality”, vous y trouverez des trésors d’inspiration…

How fascinating are the Dragons! In particular this Japanese ones. They might be dangerous but they are not exactly hostiles creatures like our european fire breathing dragons. After I conducted a collage workshop about dragons I felt like exploring further those reptilian lines, just the fun of the doodle. I creates a few prints based on it.

Les dragons japonais sont de fascinantes créatures. Bien qu’associés aux forces de la Nature, elles sont dangereuses certes, mais pas vraiment hostiles. Elles ne montrent pas le caractère violent des dragons occidentaux Bref, ces dragons là se laissent dessiner complaisamment. Après avoir animé un atelier collage sur les dragons, j ai eu envie d’explore les lignes de ces reptiles plus en avant, pour mon plaisir personnel de griffonnage. J’en ai fait des cartes et des posters.
